I've spent all week trying to think of an interesting photo to post. It's been a pretty uneventful week; we've had colds and not done very much. Looking at other Mamatography posts, I've seen people have included photos of their day to day lives, so today I'm sharing something that is part of our everyday life.
The SNS. Supplemental Nursing System. For four of M's feeds a day I use this, rather than giving her bottles. It's an ingenius invention that has saved many breastfeeding relationships. It enables all supplements to be taken at the breast - whether that's my own expressed milk, donor breastmilk or formula - preventing nipple confusion or preference for bottles; ensuring constant breast stimulation and promoting breast tissue growth. It also ensures she gets as much of my milk as she can and means it's not such a problem that I rarely get a chance to express these days.
I do have a bit of a love hate relationship with the SNS though. Sterilising is a pain. And M can take ages to feed with it. I haven't worked out to feed with it lying down in bed or with M in the sling either. And the cheeky little monkey has worked out that she can kick my nipple out and just suck on the tube, so I have to be on constant watch! But given all the issues I have, I'm so grateful that we've been successful with it this time around.
