Genesis 12:1-3 is where we find God's promise to Abraham. The promise is that Abraham will have descendants too numerous to count, and that through him all people will be blessed.

Fast forward to Jesus, a descendant of Abraham. At Christmas we celebrate the birth of the one who would fulfil the second part of God's promise: Jesus, through His death and resurrection has enabled all people to be blessed, if they choose to follow Him. This advent we can think about ways in which we can bless others. Inviting people for a meal; sharing the good news of Jesus; praying for someone; giving to charity. There are so many ways to share the blessings we have received.
"Dear God, help me to be a blessing to others."
