Noah
The story of Noah is found in Genesis 6-9. We discovered a number of parallels between Noah and Jesus, the first being that they were both good at carpentry!
God used both for salvation: Noah brought a physical salvation for his family, the animals and the future of humanity through building the Ark; Jesus brought spiritual salvation for all who believe in Him through His death on the cross.
When the flood was over, God promised that He would never bring about the destruction of humanity in such a way again, putting a rainbow in the sky as a reminder. But the behaviour of Noah's descendants has been no better than that of those who came before him. Unable to start over again, God promised to send a Messiah to teach people the right way to live and to save them from destruction. At Christmas we celebrate the arrival of the promised Messiah, and the reason we celebrate is because His birth, like the rainbow, shows that God keeps His promises.
"Dear God, thank you for rainbows and thank you for keeping your promises."
